Get affiliation within a month- Minister to Madarsas

The Uttarakhand government has directed all the Madarsas operating in the State under the Minority Welfare department to get necessary affiliation from the State administration. In a meeting with the officers of the Social Welfare and Minority Welfare departments held at Vidhan Sabha auditorium on Monday, the Minister Chandan Ram Dass ordered that all the unaffiliated Madarsas should get the affiliation from the Education department within a month.
On a stern note, the minister directed that all the illegal encroachments on the properties of Waqf board should be earmarked and all the encroachments should be removed. The minister said that review of the schemes of the Social Welfare department such as widow pension, old age pension, scholarships and others was done in the meeting. He said that the department has issued the Government Order (GO) for increasing the old age pension to Rs 1,500 per month as per the orders of the chief minister. The minister added the department is also implementing the scheme of giving pension to both husband and wife in a family, if eligible. He said that the department would bring a proposal to increase the money given under the Atal Awas Yojana to Rs 1.30 lakh on the lines of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Dass said that Social Welfare department has sought permission from the department of personnel to fill the vacant posts in the ITIs under it on outsource. He added that the Divyangs would be given a reservation of four per cent in the government jobs.
In the meeting the minister directed the officers to prepare a proposal for providing monetary help for the marriage of the girls rendered orphan during the Covid-19 pandemic period. This would be on the lines of the similar help provided to the daughters of the widows and Divyangs.
He directed that a secretary level meeting of the Special Component Plan (SCP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) should be convened within a month for proper implementation of these schemes. In the meeting a detailed review of income and expenditures in the SCP and TSP would be done.
Dass added that the all the eligible beneficiaries of the Atal Awas Yojana would be earmarked for providing assistance to the needy. The minister said that the social welfare department has started seven coaching centres under which job oriented courses would be operated. He averred that the objective of the government is to provide benefit to the person standing last on the social ladder and give an impetus to the implementation of the welfare schemes.
The social welfare secretary L Fenai, additional secretary Yogendra Rawat, tribal welfare director SS Tolia and others were present on the occasion.
