In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat was left stupefied when he, during an unannounced inspection of the primary health centre at Okhaldhunga, found that though a doctor came to the State-run health facility for just two days in July as per the records in the OPD register, the attendance register showed he attended duty all through the month.
As he sought information on the glaring discrepancy, the pharmacist Jagmohan Upreti told him that the doctor’s attendance was being marked by the ward boy. Acting quickly, Rawat summoned the chief medical officer and other senior officers to his camp office in Haldwani. At the meeting, he vented out his displeasure and ordered strict action to be taken against the errant doctor and others if found in collusion with him.
