Girls outperform boys in Class XII & X results of CBSE, Dehradun region

The pass percentage witnessed a decline as compared to last year
The pass percentage of the students in the class X and XII of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination in Dehradun region has witnessed a drop this year as compared to the last year. In class XII, a total of 80.26 per cent students cleared the examination this year in Dehradun region as compared to the 85.39 per cent last year. Similarly in the class X, 90.61 per cent students cleared the examination this year. The pass percentage in class X last year was 9.43 per cent. In the examination the girls continued the tradition of performing better than the boys. In the class XII 90.68 per cent of the girls were successful as compared to 84.6 per cent of boys. In class X, the pass percentage of girls and boys stood at 89.96 per cent and 87.79 per cent respectively.
The regional officer of Dehradun region of CBSE, Ranvir Singh told The Pioneer that dip in the pass percentage of class XII this year could be attributed to the inclusion of many new schools in the region.
It is interesting to note that the Atal Utkrisht Schools which were given affiliation of the CBSE this year have given a bad performance. In class XII only 51.49 per cent of the students of these schools passed while in class X the pass percentage of these schools was 60.49 per cent. The students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas continue their stellar performance in this year’s board results also. In class XII 98.96 per cent students of these schools were declared pass while in class X their pass percentage was 99.40 per cent.
Singh said that the students who are not satisfied with their results can apply for re-evaluation as per the procedure and notification of the board.
There are a total of 1109 schools of Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh in the jurisdiction of Dehradun region of CBSE for class XII examinations. Similarly students of 1327 schools of these areas appeared in the class X of CBSE Dehradun this year.
