GMVN doubles revenue target for Char Dham Yatra, enhances property listings & facilities

The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) has doubled its target of revenue collection from its property booking during Char Dham Yatra this year. Last year, GMVN collected Rs 40 crore revenue but this year, it aims to collect Rs 80 crore, the GMVN managing director Vishal Mishra said.
He told The Pioneer that GMVN has 84 properties across Uttarakhand, out of which about 50 properties comprising approximately 600 rooms, are situated along the Char Dham routes. With registrations for the Yatra having commenced on March 20, GMVN has already received over Rs 2.5 crore in bookings, valid till July 15, he said. “Last year, we had listed only 14 properties on the Make My Trip (MMT) platform, which brought in additional revenue of about Rs one crore. This year, we have expanded our digital presence by listing 54 properties on MMT. Many of these are beautiful but still lesser-known locations that often remain underbooked. Making them more visible online will undoubtedly boost both visibility and bookings,” Mishra said.
He added that GMVN is also committed to improving guest experiences during the Yatra. “We have directed our staff to complete all necessary repairs and maintenance at our properties before the yatra begins. A dedicated team is overseeing the preparations to ensure everything is in top shape,” he said. In a move towards sustainable travel, Mishra also stated that charging stations for electric vehicles have also been installed on Char Dham routes. “Last year, we installed EV charging stations at 34 locations along the Char Dham routes. This year, we will also clearly list these locations on our official website to encourage more pilgrims to opt for eco-friendly travel,” he stated.
With improved digital outreach, upgraded facilities and a strong focus on sustainability, GMVN is optimistic about achieving its revenue goals for the 2025 Char Dham Yatra season, Mishra added.
