GMVN prepares to increase business during Char Dham Yatra

The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) is aiming to increase its business further during the Char Dham Yatra slated to start in the near future. The corporation’s general manager Dayanand Saraswati told The Pioneer that GMVN’s business amounted to Rs 46 crore during the Char Dham Yatra last year.
This year, the corporation has set a target of increasing the business by 25 per cent compared to the previous year. The GMVN has started work on facilitating 2,000 tents in Kedarnath. These tents can accommodate upto 5,000 pilgrims visiting Kedarnath. Apart from this, the corporation is also sprucing up its tourist rest house with 500 bed capacity and other facilities in Badrinath. The GMVN is improving the lighting, water supply and beds, among other services at its facility here, Saraswati said.
In addition to the Char Dham Yatra, the GMVN is also focusing on the destination wedding concept as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The corporation offers varied packages for destination weddings at Triyuginarayan, Tilwara and at the Ganga Resort in Rishikesh.
It is pertinent to mention here that the GMVN tourist rest houses and its other facilities cater to a large section of Char Dham pilgrims and tourists throughout the year. The Char Dham Yatra is slated to begin in April-May.
