The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) has already received bookings worth over Rs four crore for its properties ahead of the Char Dham Yatra, which is set to begin on April 30. With around 1,100 rooms listed on various online booking platforms, the GMVN anticipates the numbers to rise further as the Yatra date approaches, the GMVN managing director Vishal Mishra said.

He expressed his satisfaction with the current progress, stating that this year’s response has been significantly better than the last. He claimed that the high volume of bookings reflects the enthusiasm of pilgrims for the sacred journey. Registration for the Yatra began on March 20, following the announcement of the temple opening dates. The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri will open on April 30, marking the official commencement of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. As preparations intensify, multiple departments are working diligently to ensure a smooth experience for pilgrims. GMVN has also taken steps to enhance facilities at its guest houses along the Yatra route.

Mishra informed that employees have been instructed to complete all necessary repairs and maintenance work in all GMVN properties before the Yatra begins. A dedicated team has been assigned to oversee these preparations. He said that in an effort to offer pilgrims an authentic cultural experience, GMVN will introduce Uttarakhand’s traditional cuisine alongside modern food options at its properties. Specially appointed local cooks will prepare regional delicacies, allowing visitors to savour the unique flavours of the State, Mishra added.
