GMVN to offer 10 % rebate to winter Char Dham Yatra pilgrims

In a major initiative towards encouraging pilgrims to undertake Char Dham Yatra during winters, the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Sngh Dhami has directed the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) to provide 10 per cent rebate to the pilgrims staying in its hotels for the Yatra. During winter the deities of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri move to Ukhimath, Joshimath, Mukbha and Kharsali respectively which are their winter abodes.
In a meeting with the senior officers of the State administration at his residence on Friday, the CM ordered that the Yatra to the winter abodes of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri should start. He said that the winter Yatra should be publicised extensively. He told the officers that he will undertake the review of the winter Yatra arrangements next week. The CM added that he will also review the progress made by different departments on his orders about preparing short term and long term plans for Sashakt Uttarakhand plan. The CM had directed the departments to prepare the plan which will be rolled out during the silver jubilee celebrations of the State. He said that consistent efforts are being made by the State government for the development of the State as per the aspirations of the Statehood activists.
The CM said that work at a fast pace is being done in every field to make Uttarakhand one of the leading States of the country.
On a stern note the CM directed the officers to prepare the road accidents safety regulations soon. He directed the newly appointed director general of police to increase night patrolling and increase the deployment of the police force for road safety.
The CM directed the departments concerned to undertake an extensive campaign to make Uttarakhand a drugs free State by the year 2025. He said that regular watch on the drug traffickers should be made and strict action should be taken against them. Dhami added that verification of outsiders residing in the State on rent should be done.
The CM informed that he will soon start visiting the districts and also hold night halts there.
The principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretaries Shailesh Bagauli, Vinay Shankar Pandey and senior officers of police attended the meeting.
