Godiyal continues to trek Garhwal LS seat after end of voting

After the end of polling in the State while most of the candidates in the fray in the five Lok Sabha constituencies of the State are enjoying a well- deserved rest; the Congress candidate from Garhwal LS seat, Ganesh Godiyal is continuing to meet party workers and people in different parts of the constituency.
The voting in the five LS constituencies of Uttarakhand was held in the first phase on April 19. After the end of the voting, Godiyal is continuing to maintain the tempo set up during his hectic campaign in Garhwal. He is meeting people, party workers and holding Press conferences in different areas of Garhwal. He has visited the place where the EVMs of the constituency are kept and has met the officers of election commission, airing concern on the safety and security of the voting machines.
After April 19, Godiyal has held meetings with party workers in Paithani, Pabo, Karnprayag, Rudraprayag, Kotdwar, Ramnagar, Devprayag, Narendranagar, Joshimath, Tharali, Deval and Nandprayag. In these meetings, he is expressing gratitude to the party workers and supporters for the hard work they had put in the elections. In these visits, he is also meeting students, shopkeepers, elderly, women and different sections of the society. Vikas Jugran, a Congress worker in Chamoli district said that he was pleasantly surprised by the visits and meetings of Godiyal. “After the end of voting it is rare for the politicians to undertake a thanks giving campaign. This shows his political maturity and dedication,’’ he said.
Godiyal told The Pioneer that he is utilising the time between the voting and announcement of the results to thank the party workers and supporters. “I am not feeling any fatigue. In fact the enthusiasm of workers is energising me. The elections of Urban Local Bodies and two assembly by-elections will be held soon and my objective is keep the morale of the party workers high for these battles,’’ he said.
In Garhwal constituency, Godiyal is locked in a direct contest with the national chief spokesperson of BJP Anil Baluni.
In the campaign in the constituency spread into five districts- Pauri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Nainital- Godiyal raised the issues of unemployment, Agnipath scheme, old pension scheme, Ankita Bhandari murder case and women empowerment.
