Three- day golden jubilee reunion programme of the 53 regular and 37 technical course ended at Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Monday. The veterans, who had passed out from the portals of the academy in June, 1974 attended the programme with their family members. The ceremony commenced with remembering and paying tributes to the fallen batch mates and was followed by wreath laying at the war memorial. In addition, the course has also produced one army commander Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra and several Lt Generals. Officers from the course have done many command and staff assignments at various ranks all through their service, including command of formations and premier Army Training Institutions. The officers of the course have won Vir Chakra and three Shaurya Chakras, and several other awards for bravery. Many from the course are also in receipt of multiple awards for distinguished service. Some of the officers from the course, post retirement, have become entrepreneurs and have been providing employment opportunities to scores of Indians. Others had joined the corporate and education world and excelled in their respective fields, in the process further contributing to Nation building,’’ said a communiqué from IMA.
