Government doctors postpone proposed work boycott plan

Following the assurance given by the secretary health, R Rajesh Kumar, the Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS), the powerful association of government doctors has postponed its proposed strike commencing from October 04.
The president of the PMHS, Dr Manoj Verma said that the State government has accepted eight of the nine demands of the association. He said that following the assurance given by the health secretary, the PMHS has decided to suspend its work boycott call for 15 days.
“We will wait for the government orders for the agreements reached between us and the secretary for 15 days. However, we will wear black armbands for the next 15 days and continue our agitation. We have convened a meeting of the PMHS on October 18 in which a decision based on the government action will be taken,’’ Dr Verma said.
In the meeting with the representatives of doctors and health secretary, the demands of DPC and SDACP of the PMHS were accepted.
