The Department of Town and Country Planning clarified on Sunday that no township or any kind of related project is approved in the Doiwala area of Dehradun district. Recently, some locals of the Doiwala area have accused the government of making plans to commence a township project there along with the Central government for which their agricultural land will be acquired in the future. They have also warned of holding an intense protest against the government. However, the officials clarified on Sunday that no such plan is being considered by the government at present. They said that according to AMRUT 1.0, AMRUT 2.0 and Ease of Doing Business (EODB) schemes, the Central government is doing the master planning for the planned development of local bodies of the State. Under this plan, the authorities concerned prepare a public document and do infrastructure planning to carry out development work in the future only for the selected area. However, no such planning is done for Doiwala under this scheme at present as is being claimed by many. Also, there is no survey which is being done through the department under this plan in the area, said the officials. However, they added that even if the government plans any township or other development projects in the future, no land acquisition will be proposed except for infrastructure works such as road, electricity, water and sewage among others.
