The Armed Forces Flag Day was observed in Raj Bhawan on Thursday. The director of Soldier Welfare brigadier (retd) Amrit Lal met the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh and handed him the flag. The governor gave a donation for the Armed Forces Flag Fund (AFFF) on the occasion and requested the general public to donate for the fund.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that day reminds about the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
He directed the officers of the soldier welfare department that a concrete plan for solving the problems of the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, decorated soldiers and their family members should be prepared. Remembering his days in school, the governor said that the Armed Forces Flag day was celebrated with enthusiasm. He said that Uttarakhand is Sainya Bhoomi and it should be our endeavour to provide every possible help to the ex servicemen and their family members.
