Governor, CM greet people on Republic Day

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Republic Day.
In his message, the Governor said that Uttarakhand is contributing to the development journey of the country. He said that with the efforts of the State government and hard work of its citizens the State is touching new dimensions and heights of development. He said that the positive response to the winter Char Dham Yatra shows that the State is establishing itself as a centre of all season tourism.
Singh said that it is a matter of great pride that the State is hosting the National Games this year for the first time and expressed confidence that these games will prove to be a milestone in development of sports talent and infrastructure in the State.
Wishing the people, CM Dhami said that the Republic Day reminds us of the sacrifices and martyrdom of our freedom fighters. The occasion also inspires us to make the dreams of patriots come true. He said that it is a shared responsibility to always remain committed to the basic democratic ideals of justice, freedom, equality and fraternity. The CM said that the State government is committed to make Uttarakhand the best state of the country by realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a developed nation by 2047.
The CM added that the Union government is providing unprecedented support in every field for the development of the state. He said that Uttarakhand is going to be the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
The CM said that effective steps have been taken in the State to maintain the character of Devbhoomi. He said that the upcoming National Games being hosted by the State will provide better opportunities to sportspersons and create sports infrastructure in the State.
The CM added that to promote industries and attract investors in the State a favourable environment for industries is being created with policy reforms. In the last three years, appointments have been provided to more than 19,000 youngsters in various departments.
He said that the State government has made a provision of giving 30 per cent reservation to women in government jobs.
