Governor directs secretaries to develop roadmap for enhancing financial stability of CWC

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has instructed the secretaries to convene a meeting and develop a roadmap to enhance the financial stability of the State Child Welfare Council (CWC) and to incorporate new schemes utilising modern technology. He said this during the 16th general body meeting of the State CWC held at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday.
The governor emphasised the urgent need for an innovative action plan aimed at financially strengthening the CWC. He stressed on the importance of introducing new schemes to genuinely fulfill the council’s objectives. It is crucial for the council to play a supportive role in ensuring that the benefits of various schemes run by the State and Central governments reach children for their overall development. He highlighted the neeed for strengthening resources and infrastructure so that no child is deprived of quality education, health or nutrition.
Further, the governor urged the CWC to adopt new ideas and approaches to empower children, making them self-reliant and skilled. He said that in an age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics, it is essential to develop child welfare schemes that enable children to learn the latest technologies and contribute positively to themselves, the State and the country. Such schemes should be tailored to current needs and must be accessible to remote areas of the state, he said.
Singh also stressed on the importance of consistent efforts to maximise public participation in the CWC. During the meeting, he appreciated the members who have made significant contributions to the council.
Additionally, the governor approved the estimated income and expenditure for the CWC for the fiscal year 2024-25 and consented to other agenda items. General secretary Pushpa Manas provided confirmation and approval for the proposals passed in the 15th meeting and presented a brief overview of the activities carried out over the past year.
