Governor exhorts universities to share best practices

Says the universities should focus on all round development of students & improvement in quality of education

The governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh has directed all the state universities to share best practices and enter into Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with each other for better coordination. He undertook a review meeting of the universities of the state in Raj Bhawan on Wednesday. The governor said that internal issues of the universities should be disposed off at the level of the Vice Chancellors (VCs) itself. He stressed the need to implement the academic knowledge, technology and research at the ground level. The governor suggested that the good efforts in the areas of reverse migration, women empowerment an organic farming should be converted into a public moment. On a stern note the governor made it clear that affiliations should be done on the basis of an extensive and reliable report. He said that an artificial intelligence android based App would be developed with the help of Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) which would have all the information about all the universities. He suggested that the registrar and the VCs in the universities should be in a cooperative role with one another and they should not view one another as competetors.

The governor said that the education system should be student centric and the motto of the universities should be for all round development of students and improvement in quality of education. In the meeting the VCs informed about updating of their websites, action on the colleges which violate the norms of affiliations, works on rain water harvesting, solar energy and details of the villages adopted by them.

The meeting was attended by secretary to the governor, Ranjit Sinha, secretary higher education Deependra Kumar Chaudhary and Vice Chancellors of many universities of the universities.
