Governor inaugurates Cardiac Cath Lab at Medical College Srinagar

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh inaugurated the Cardiac Cath lab constructed at a cost of Rs 6.35 crore at Government Medical College hospital, Srinagar on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the Cardiac Cath lab will be beneficial for about 20 lakh people residing in the mountainous districts of Garhwal and lakhs of devotees visiting the Char Dhams and the Hemkund Sahib.
The Governor expressed confidence that soon the Srinagar medical college will not only provide the benefit of its facilities to the residents of the region but will also maintain a high level of excellence. He said that efficiency, mutual cooperation, devotion to duty and determination to keep developing are the main pillars of the success of any institution.
The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said the State government is committed to provide best possible health facilities to the people of the State. He said that Government Medical College, Pithoragarh will be ready within a year.
Rawat said that about 37,000 people visit the OPDs of the government hospitals every day in the State. He said that the government has decided to reduce the OPD registration fees from Rs 29 to Rs 20 and registration slips of one hospital will be valid in other hospitals as well. The minister added that the air ambulance service will be inaugurated in the State on August 15. He said that the State government has taken a decision to appoint 100 per cent faculty in all the medical colleges.
Garhwal MP, Anil Baluni said with the inauguration of the Cardiac Cath lab in Srinagar, the people of mountainous areas will not have to visit major cities for cardiac treatment.
The director Medical Education Dr Ashutosh Sayana, District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan, Principal of Srinagar medical college Dr CMS Rawat and others attended the programme.
