Governor inaugurates E-Library in Doon University
Lauds it as a remarkable step towards digitalisation

The Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmeet Singh inaugurated the E-Library of Doon University on Wednesday and described it as a great step towards digitalisation to enable the students to search and retrieve the required academic information fast and efficiently while saving time and cost.
Lauding the Doon University for establishing the E-Library that has incorporated an extensive collection of over 900,000 full-text documents, the Governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, said that the technological advancement in education is aimed at making learning accessible to all, making it more exciting and ensuring better communication and collaboration.
The Governor further said that in order to support the academic integrity and research standard in the university, the anti-plagiarism software like Turnitin and URKUND is also integrated with this E-Library which is making available 12253 e-journals of different subjects, 781269 e-theses, 124019 video lectures, 18371 e-books, 2979 e-newspapers, 16000 audio books as well as the bibliographic information of 43000 physical books.
“The kind of E-library which has come up in Doon University today should be set up in all the universities. This is a revolutionary step towards digitisation in the field of education,” he said and announced that he would gift 108 books worth Rs 1, 50,000 to the Doon University.
While stating that the Governor had inspired the university to set up this library,
Doon University vice- chancellor Surekha Dangwal said that this library is the first one in Uttarakhand. “While all the students will be able to take advantage of this facility, the E-Library is of special significance to those students who are learning foreign languages as they can access material nationally and internationally in their respective languages,” she said, adding that the E-Library is available on web page as well as in mobile application.
“Doon University is committed to the cause of academic excellence and with the inauguration of this facility, the publications of the university such as research papers, reports, theses and question papers are all available in this library,” she said.
