Governor inaugurates Shri Anna Mahotsav at Pantnagar University

The Governor Lt Gen (retd) Gurmit Singh who is also the chancellor of the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology inaugurated the Shri Anna Mahotsav at the university on Thursday. On this occasion, he felicitated the farmers who have adopted technology-supported progressive means in farming with certificates, distributed veterinary kits and released booklets and logos based on Shri Anna. He later inspected the stalls put up for the occasion.   

In his address, he said that Shri Anna is not just a grain but a symbol of health, culture and philosophy of life. It contains protein, fibre and minerals in abundance, preventing diseases like diabetes and obesity, he said, adding that Uttarakhand is an ideal place for producing crops like Mandua, Jhangora, Koda, Sanwa and Ramdana.

The Governor also appreciated GBPUAT’s initiative to include Shri Anna in the food menu of the Indian Army.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the vice-chancellor, Manmohan Singh Chauhan, district magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadoria and Senior Superintendent of Police Manikant Mishra. Besides, scientists, students, farmers and Army personnel in large numbers were present.
