Governor makes an appeal to adopt TB patients

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has made an appeal to the public representatives, NGOs, social organisations and capable persons to become Nikshay Mitras to help the tuberculosis patients. He distributed monthly nutrition kits to the TB patients in the Raj Bhawan on Tuesday under an awareness campaign for eradication of TB. In the programme the governor interacted with the patients and advised them to take nutritious diet and proper rest during the treatment period. It is pertinent to mention here that the Uttarakhand governor has adopted TB patients for their proper care and has become their Nikshay Mitra. These patients would be given free nutrition kits on the first week of every month.
Speaking on the occasion the governor said that we should become friends with the TB patients and help them in taking proper nutrition so that the State becomes free from TB. He said that a pledge to uproot TB should be taken by everyone to fulfil the objective of the Swastha Bharat, Samriddh Bharat. He exhorted the general public to come forward and participate in the TB eradication programme. He said that letters have been written to the Members of Parliament, MLAs and ministers for becoming the Nikshay Mitras. He asked the officers to visit all institutes in the State and request people to become Nikshay Mitras. Senior medical officer Dr Mahavir Singh, Dr A K Singh, the general secretary of the TB association of Uttarakhand Poonam Kimothi, district TB officer Dr Manoj Verma and officers of the Health department were present on the occasion.
