Governor presents Shailesh Matiyani award to 39 teachers

The governor Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh honoured 39 teachers with the prestigious Shailesh Matiyani award on the occasion of Teachers’ day at Raj Bhawan on Monday.
Twenty teachers were given awards for the year 2021 and 19 for the year 2018. Apart from them the governor also felicitated two teachers who had received the national award on the occasion.
Congratulating the award winners the governor said that their responsibilities have increased after receiving the awards. He said that the selected teachers are role models for other teachers. The governor opined that only teachers have the ability to change the society and the nation can become a world leader (Vishwaguru) on the basis of its teachers. He said that people should move forward by linking India’s ancient civilization, culture, and history with technology and research. Exhorting the teachers to prepare the coming generation for facing the challenges, the governor said that they should continue their literary journey. He said that providing good education and values is the responsibility of the teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that teachers play an important role in nation-building and claimed that the level of education in the State is increasing. He said that Uttarakhand is the first State in the country to implement the National Education Policy 2020. Rawat said that Bal Vatikas have started in 4,447 Anganwadi centres of the State and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hostels are being opened in every district for destitute children.
The School Education secretary Ravi Nath Raman, secretary to governor RK Sinha, additional secretary Swati Bhadauria, director general of School Education Banshidhar Tiwari, and others were present on the occasion.
