The book ‘Valour and Wisdom’ authored by alumnus of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Sidharth Mishra was released on Sunday by the Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh on the occasion of the institute’s centennial founder’s day. The book is a historical compendium that tells readers about real and fascinating aspects on the basis of various facts, numbers and figures which generally remain an unheard part of history. Mishra has worked for the past 25 years to gather the required data including facts and pieces of evidence to support the credibility of things and events mentioned in the book. “RIMC has a prosperous history and it continues to contribute at various levels to serve the country. The book tells about how from World War II to the current times, RIMC has justified its existence in the last 100 years. The RIMC appears to be a lavish place and 250 students are selected regularly. People must have questions like how the funds are spent in the institute and how certain things happen here. This book answers such questions,” said Mishra. He informed that he started working to gather the required data for the book from 1997 and that task went on till 2020. “The gathered data were evaluated and reviewed before finally putting them into the books. It is the hard work of the past 25 years of my life. Various academics have also contributed to making the book what it is today, especially Air Marshal (retd)PP Reddy who went through the whole manuscript of the book and gave his valuable inputs,” added the author. He said that the book has various unique facts and important pieces about RIMC and he is sure people will love it.
