PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun
Acting tough on the adulterated Buckwheat flour, the State government has imposed a ban on sale of loose (unsealed) flour of Buckwheat.
The commissioner Food Safety and Drugs Administration and Health secretary, R Rajesh Kumar said that new guidelines have been issued for the sale of Buckwheat flour in the State. He said that from now onwards the sale of the Buckwheat flour will be done only in the sealed packets. The packagers will have to compulsorily follow the labelling laws as per the Food Safety Act of 2006.
The company should clearly mention the date of grinding of the flour, packaging date and expiry date on every packet. The seller should also mention the food license number on every packet, he said. It is pertinent to mention here that hundreds of people fell ill and had to be hospitalised following their consumption of stale Buckwheat flour in Dehradun on Monday.
