Homoeopathy has been placed as major medicine system in new health policy, says CM
The State government is committed to developing Uttarakhand as an important AYUSH State. Stating this, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in a State like Uttarakhand with difficult terrain, the importance of AYUSH and homoeopathy system of medicine increases especially due to it being cheap and effective. The chief minister said this after inaugurating the national homoeopathy conference- Homoeocon-2023 at the Doon University here on Sunday. He also launched a documentary made on homoeopathy and felicitated doctors who had performed well in the homoeopathy sector on the occasion.
Remembering Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homoeopathy on the occasion, Dhami said that he had developed a very effective and cheap treatment system in the form of homoeopathy. The CM said that it is vital for a person to remain free of disease to achieve what is desired. At a time when lifestyle changes are occurring rapidly it becomes more important to take care of the body as much as possible, he said.
Dhami said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga, Ayurveda, homoeopathy and various other medicine systems are getting revived with measures including the formation of the AYUSH ministry and institution of the International Day of Yoga. More people are today adopting traditional medicine systems due to the farsightedness of the Prime Minister. The CM further said that PM Modi had formed the AYUSH ministry in 2014 to encourage traditional systems of medicines. The State government is also making efforts to mainstream AYUSH treatment, he added.
Dhami said, “During the Covid-19 pandemic, all of us closely saw the importance of homoeopathy and traditional medicine systems following which the acceptance for homoeopathy has increased around the world. Due to these positive results, homoeopathy has been accorded the place of a major medicine system in the new health policy.”
Union minister of State Ashwini Kumar Chaubey said that the State government under Dhami has worked to take homoeopathy and other AYUSH components forward at a swift pace. Homoeopathy is an effective solution for treatment of even the most difficult ailments. He also stressed on the need for more research in homoeopathy. The minister said that India had developed a global identity in AYUSH and Yoga, adding that these aspects will have to be encouraged further.
