The State government has granted a second consecutive service extension of six months to the head of department ( HoD) and Engineer in Chief of the Public Works Department (PWD) Deepak Kumar Yadav. He was to retire on Friday. Yadav was granted the first extension of six months in November 2023.
In the order of the service extension, secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey stated that Yadav has the responsibility of monitoring important works such as reconstruction of Badrinath and Kedarnath temples and important construction works of Manaskhand temples. Interestingly service extension has been granted to Yadav despite the opposition by the employee organisations.
The State government has also given service extension of six months to head of department of Irrigation, Jaipal Singh. The order of service extension of Singh was given by the Irrigation secretary R Rajesh Kumar. In the order the secretary said that work in many projects such as Satpuli lake, Banianala, Haldapani landslide treatment, Song and Jamrani dams is underway and the department has no engineer of the rank of chief engineer scale I.
