Statehood activist and State convenor of Gairsain Kranti Morcha, Naman Chandola has said that it appears as if the State government is more concerned about protecting NTPC than the Joshimath city which is sinking.
After returning from Joshimath city, Chandola said on Monday that Joshimath has spiritual and religious importance and the people of the city are fighting to save its existence.
He said that under the banner of Joshimath Bachoo Sangarsh Samiti, the people of the city were staging a Dharna from the last one year to save the sinking city but no heed was paid by the government. He said that people of Joshimath believe that the government is siding with the NTPC. Making an appeal for the government to hear the voice of the people of Joshimath who are in the state of distress and facing acute problems Chandola said that Joshimath is struggling for its existence. He said that the government is working to suppress the voice of the people of Joshimath who have shown their anger for NTPC on the streets.
Chandola said that the Morcha will support the voice of Joshimath and help them in getting justice.
