Govt medical college in Pithoragarh to start in 2026: Minster

The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the government college in Pithoragarh will start functioning from the academic session 2026-27. 

The minister inspected the site of the under construction building of the medical college in Pithoragarh on Thursday. He said that  the State government is  constructing the medical college with a budget of Rs 750 crore. He said that 45 per cent work of the college is complete  and the officers have been directed to complete the remaining work in the next six months. The minister said that the government has set a target to start the medical college in the year 2026. He said that the process of appointment of faculty members and other staff in the college has started. Rawat said that the officers of the department have been asked to apply for affiliation in the National Medical Council (NMC) next year. He said that the government of India has approved the request of  the State government for transfer of 1.06 hectares of forest land for the college.

 After the site inspection of the medical college, the minister presided over a joint meeting of the officers of the health, medical education, higher education and education departments at the district headquarter.  He said that  the State government is committed to strengthen the education and health services and make them accessible to the general public.

 The district magistrate Govind Giri Goswani, principal of the medical college Dr Ajay Arya and others accompanied the minister.
