The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has alleged that the State government is planning to reinstate the ousted president of Chamoli district Panchayat Rajni Bhandari on the post of administrator of district Panchayat.
Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of the State Congress on Monday, the Congress leader said that it is interesting to note that when Rajendra Bhandari, the husband of Rajni Bhandari was in the Congress party, the successive BJP governments knocked at the doors of the courts against financial irregularities done by Bhandari as district Panchayat president. The government also initiated inquiries against her. She said that the same government which was vehemently opposing Rajni Bhandari became her biggest guardian after we husband joined the BJP.
She said that after the government appointed district Panchayat presidents as administrators at the end of their tenure, the BJP leader and district Panchayat vice president of Chamoli, Laxman Singh Rawat sent letters to the departmental minister and secretary opposing appointment of Bhandari as administrator. Following the protest, the government removed Bhandari and appointed the Chamoli district magistrate as the administrator. Dasauni said that the entire episode has sullied the image of Rajendra Bhandari. She said that it is now learnt that the government is trying to reinstate Bhandari on the post of administrator through the court.
