The chairwoman of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) Kusum Kandwal stated that the government is providing the best possible facilities and essential materials at Nari Niketan. She said this during her inspection of Nari Niketan on Friday.
During her visit, Kandwal met with the inmates to enquire about their well-being. She also gathered information regarding the training programmes offered to women and inspected the materials prepared by them. Considering this, she highlighted that with the help of the Shiksha Se Shikhar Tak Sanstha, essential items for the daily needs of the inmates—such as sanitary pads, diapers and sweets—were distributed.
Kandwal further informed that during the inspection she encouraged the girls at Nari Niketan to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines and to take advantage of the training programmes that promote self-reliance and independence. She emphasised that the government has been making the best possible way to provide facilities at Nari Niketan and if any social organisations wish to cooperate with the inmates in a spirit of mutual support, it is a matter of pride.
