Govt sensitive, working for disaster-affected villagers: Agrawal

Cabinet minister in-charge of Tehri district Prem Chand Agrawal said that the State government is sensitive to the condition of the disaster affected people. The authorities are working efficiently for them in this time of disaster, he said. The minister said this on Sunday while interacting with the disaster affected villagers in Tehri district after inspecting the damage caused by heavy rain and landslide in Toli, Tingarh and Thati Budhakedar villages. Visiting the temporary relief camp at the government inter college Binakkhal, he inspected the facilities provided to the villagers there and directed officials maintain the desired level of health, food, electricity, drinking water and sanitation. Stating that the government is working efficiently for the disaster victims, he said that a geological survey has been conducted in disaster affected Tingarh village while the process for identifying land for resettlement of the villagers is underway. The government will do whatever is better for the villagers according to the standards. Agrawal said that since the day of the disaster, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and he have been in touch with the district administration. Dhami is in Delhi for an important meeting but taking regular feedback regarding the situation in Tehri, Agrawal said. He further said that the district administration has handled the situation in a better manner within a short span of time in this disaster scenario while the villagers have also shown patience. In Thati Budhakedar, the villagers demanded channelisation of the river, removal of debris from it and drafting a plan for the disaster affected area and undertaking a treatment on the lines of Uttarkashi. The minister assured them that action will be taken as per the standards. The Ghansali MLA Shakti Lal Shah and district magistrate Mayur Dixit informed the minister about the damage caused in various villages and the assistance being provided to the affected villagers.
