The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the State government is serious about the issues of workers with most of their problems having been resolved. The party alleged that the Congress is spreading misleading information regarding the workers.
The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the minimum wage for workers in engineering industries was declared in April while directions for dearness allowance and arrears for workers in non-engineering industries have been issued. The Central government will be announcing national floor level minimum wages as per the new labour laws, after which the State government will review the minimum wages applicable in the State. While the minimum wage in Uttarakhand is higher than in other nearby States, neither the Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor any other authorised officer has announced Rs 781 daily wage, Chauhan said. The Rs 781 wage applicable to Central government undertakings is not applicable to industries in the States. He further said that a control room has been set up at the Labour office in Haldwani to facilitate information or redressal of issues being faced by workers. “The Congress’ concern for labourers is limited to political statements. Despite being in power for years, it did not make any concrete and permanent arrangement in the interests of the workers. The Congress is attempting to spread confusion at a time when the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is working consistently for the welfare of workers, employment generation and industrial development,” he said.
Chauhan further said that while the BJP believes in the politics of development and communication, the Congress is indulging in the politics of demonstrations and confusion.
