Govt taking measures to improve quality of education: Minister

The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the teachers are the axis of quality education and the government gives full regard to them.
He was addressing a programme of the newly elected working committee of Rajkiya Shikshak Sangh at the Education directorate on Friday. The minister said that the government will take every possible step to improve the quality of education in the country. He assured that the government is standing with the teachers and every possible effort will be done to solve their problems. The minister said that he will hold a meeting with the working committee of teachers once every three months. He appealed to the office bearers and teachers to help in creating a positive environment for the cluster schools and PM Shree schools in the State. The minister suggested that a calendar of every activity should be prepared and 220 days of teaching should be compulsorily done in the school. Discussions on 10 day leave during the monsoon period were also held in the meeting
He said that on the lines of the central schools, the principals of government schools of the State have been authorised to appoint teachers on a per period basis on the vacant posts. The minister said that Uttarakhand is ranked on the 18th position in the country in the field of school education and efforts should be made to ensure that the State is in the top ten states of the country within two years.
The president Ram Singh Chauhan and the general secretary of the association, Ramesh Painnyuli listed the issues of teachers such as categorisation of schools, promotion, wage disparity, childcare leave, old pension and others in their interaction with the minister.
The Education secretary Ravinath Raman, director general Banshidhar Tiwari and others attended the programme.
