The Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS) suspended the fast unto death at the State Education Directorate on Monday. The Education director Liladhar Vyas offered fruit juice to the agitating teachers to break the fast.
The initiative to break the fast of the teachers was taken by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who sent his coordinator Dalbir Singh Danu to the agitation site of the teachers. The president of the RSS Ram Singh Chauhan said that the association is suspending its agitation on the assurance given by CM Dhami and senior officers of the department. He claimed that the representative of the CM has given an assurance that the State government will start proceedings to annul the Uttarakhand State education teaching cadre service regulation- 2022. Chauhan said that the government has also assured that the interests of the teachers will be protected. The RSS started its agitation on the demand for cancellation of the Headmaster recruitment examination and starting the process of departmental promotions.
Under pressure from the agitating teachers the government cancelled the headmaster recruitment examination but the RSS continued its protest demanding that 100 per cent posts of Principals and headmasters in the government schools should be filled by promotion.
