Govt terminates coach accused of raping minor

The Sports minister, Rekha Arya informed that the contract of a hockey coach who has been accused of raping a 17-year-old player has been terminated. Arya stated that she visited Haridwar on Monday to meet the purported victim and her family, assuring them of all possible assistance. She described the incident as unforgivable and said that the accused coach has tarnished his profession.
The coach’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect. Additionally, the department will send a letter to the Sports Authority of India (SAI), requesting the cancellation of all coaching certificates issued to the accused by various institutions, she said. Arya informed that a public notification would be issued against the accused to prevent him from working as a coach anywhere in the country in the future.
Further, Arya directed the police team investigating the case to gather forensic evidence and any other relevant information to build a strong case against the accused.
