The term of village Panchayats in Haridwar district to end on March 31
The state government has decided to appoint administrators in the village Panchayats in Haridwar districts. The term of 306 village Panchayats in Haridwar district is ending on March 31. As per the rules the process of elections should get complete 15 days before the end of the term of Panchayats.
However in Haridwar the administration could not hold the elections on time. In an order the secretary Panchayati Raj H C Semwal authorised the district magistrate (DM) of Haridwar to appoint the assistant development officer (Panchayats) concerned as administrators in the Village Panchayats. The appointment of administrators would be for a period of six months or till the new Panchayats are constituted by the elections.
