Govt to issue fortnightly bulletins on urea stocks, availability

Thursday, 14 July 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

Reiterating that there is no scarcity of the fertilisers in the state, the Cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the officers that they should release a fortnightly bulletin on availability of urea to the farmers. In a statement the minister said on Wednesday that the state government is very sensitive towards the requirement of the farmers and loan at zero per cent interest is being given to them. The state government is providing urea to the farmers through the cooperative committees. He said that the officers have been directed to ensure that there is no scarcity of fertilisers and that they should release a bulletin on the Urea stock every 15 days. He said that the officers have also been asked to distribute nano urea to the farmers through the cooperative committees.

“Being the son of a farmer and keen student of the farming practices, I understand that on the strength of the Nano urea, India has started making its strong presence in the international market. The Nano urea is 10 per cent cheaper than the traditional urea and the farmers have reported an increase of eight per cent in the agriculture produce after its use,’’ he said

Rawat added that the Indian Farmers Fertilisers Cooperative (IFFCO) limited has conducted trials of nano urea in different parts of the country and found that one bottle of 500 ml of nano urea is equal to a 50 kilogrammes bag of urea.

The minister has also directed the Managing Director of Uttarakhand state Cooperative Federation (UCF) limited to provide nano urea to the farmers.

The MD of UCF, Ramindri Mandarwal said that the state has adequate stock of the fertilisers and she is taking regular feedback of Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts.

It is pertinent to mention here that recently the former chief minister Harish Rawat had attacked the state government for shortage in supply of urea in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Rawat had also threatened that he would sit on a Dharna outside the residence of Minister Dhan Singh Rawat if the supplies of urea were not maintained.
