The State government will provide maternity leave to pregnant women of Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) as per the new PRD Act which will be introduced soon after the release of the government order regarding the same by the end of this month. The government has also planned other important arrangements for PRD Jawans including providing financial and government-permissible services to Jawans, employment for them up to 60 years of age and making necessary amendments in PRD Act 1948 for which a GO will be released soon too.
The sports and youth welfare minister Rekha Arya said this during the review meeting of the work and schemes associated with PRD officials and other officials concerned on Wednesday. Arya said that PRD Act 1948 was in force in the State till now as it did not have its own act but now the State will get a new PRD act after the proposal regarding the same was passed by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the recent cabinet meeting. She said that the government has introduced several new arrangements in the Act which will be highly beneficial for PRD Jawans once the act is implemented after the release of the GO.
She said that under this new act, PRD recruits will be accommodated in various types of work done including technical, class IV work or work associated with other departments as per the requirement unlike before when they were recruited for security purposes only. She said that earlier, the age limit for registration in the PRD was 18 to 45 years and a volunteer could work till the age of 50 years. Now the government will fix an age limit of 18 to 42 years for registration in PRD and volunteers will be able to work till 60 years. All these amendments will be implemented after the GO release this month, added Arya. She said that government will introduce several changes with the new act and will ensure their implementation across the State once the GO is released. She said, “Implementation of the order will ensure the PRD Jawans get all benefits and facilities for a better future.”
