The Bharatiya Janata Party said that the State government stands with families affected by wildlife attacks and will take all necessary steps for public safety. The party also said that Congress should not use such sensitive issues for political gains because this is a time to stand with the victims and not turn the situation into a political matter.
The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that some recent incidents in the mountainous areas have raised concern and the government has issued strict instructions to the Forest department to address it. Officials will increase patrolling and place cages in affected areas to capture problem animals. He said that the department is identifying vulnerable locations and carrying out actions with support from local residents.
Bhatt stated that he has personally spoken to officials regarding these attacks. The department has started patrolling, placing cages in multiple locations and the authorities have also issued directions to shoot the man-eating leopards involved in attacks. Action will also take place in areas where big cats or bears are active, he said.
Bhatt appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with forest personnel. He said that the government aims to prevent any harm to human life. Compensation for victims has increased and immediate assistance is being provided. He said he will discuss a stronger action plan with department officials soon to reduce wildlife attacks in the State.
