The online registration for Char Dham Yatra will begin next week. All public transport vehicles with a seating capacity of 13 or more, regardless of whether they intend to visit the Char Dham temples, will now be required to obtain a green card during the Char Dham Yatra period. In a significant move to streamline transportation and pilgrim registration for the ensuing Char Dham Yatra, the Transport department has introduced new guidelines for vehicles and registration processes.

The officials informed that all public transport vehicles with a seating capacity of 13 or more will have to obtain a green card. The government has also decided to carry out only 60 per cent of Char Dham Yatra registrations online while reserving the remaining 40 per cent for on-the-spot offline registration. The officials said that these proposals were presented by the Transport department in a meeting recently held in Rishikesh, chaired by Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, who approved them. According to them, the administration had to face difficulties last year when online registration began late, which also caused inconvenience to pilgrims.

To prevent similar issues this year, the administration has decided to start the online registration process from next week. The officials said that all the departments concerned are preparing for the Char Dham Yatra and all arrangements are expected to be completed by April 15. The portals of Badrinath shrine are scheduled to open on May 4 while the opening dates for the other three dhams-Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri will be announced on Mahashivratri and Akshaya Tritiya.

They said that officials are working towards ensuring that all four shrines are ready for pilgrims between April 30 and May 4. Pilgrims can complete their online registration for the yatra through the official website https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in. The officials said that with these new measures in place, the government hopes to ensure a smoother and more organised Char Dham Yatra experience for devotees this year.
