An atmosphere of chaos and panic gripped Mahalla Pavdhoi under the Kotwali Jwalapur area on Saturday night when some people armed with sticks vandalised some shops in the area. Accusing a young man of the locality of molesting a girl, some people of Valmiki Basti reached Mohalla Pavdhoi armed with sticks. During this, some people vandalized many shops in the locality. At the same time, the local people also chased the attackers with sticks and cornered five youths and thrashed them.
During this, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the entire area. Many shopkeepers closed their shops and fled from the spot. In view of the sudden attack in the locality, the local people also came out of their houses with sticks and attacked them.
The Jwalapur Police Station Inspector RK Saklani reached the spot along with the police force and informed the top officials about the incident. The police force of other police stations also reached the area. As soon as the police arrived, all the attackers fled from the spot.
Inspector RK Saklani said a Police force has been deployed on the spot and search for the attackers has been started. Soon the accused will be arrested, he added. The police are also trying to find out the real reason for the quarrel.
