Guv & CM greet citizens on Independence Day

The governor Baby Rani Maurya and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have greeted the citizens on the occasion of Independence Day. Maurya paid tribute to the martyr soldiers and expressed gratitude to all freedom fighters and martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the country. In her message, the governor said that India is entering in the 75th year of independence which is being celebrated as Amrit Mahotsav. After independence India has been setting up new dimensions in every sector as a progressive nation. Uttarakhand has also contributed remarkably to the development of the country. There are many challenges before the state due to Covid-19 and natural disasters. “We should all be determined to provide better health, education and employment facilities to the citizens of the State,” she said.

Chief minister Dhami paid tributes to martyrs and freedom fighters and stressed that all citizens will have to do their bit to build the new India which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to. He said that the state government has made provision to provide one family member of martyr soldiers a government job according to qualification. He also listed other measures taken for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. The Uttarakhand government is committed to ensuring corruption-free governance. There has been qualitative improvement in the government’s functioning with measures like e-cabinet, e-office, CM dashboard Utkarsh, CM helpline 1905, Right to Service and Transfer Act. The government has decided to fill about 24,000 vacancies in all the departments.

Not just government jobs, the government is also encouraging the youth towards self employment with measures like Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana and Mukhyamantri Nano Udyam Yojana. Dhami also referred to steps like hiking the salary of guest teachers, increasing the stipend of MBBS intern doctors of government medical colleges and financial aid provision for candidates who pass the UPSC, PCS, NDA, CDS or equivalent competitive written exams. He reiterated that with the cooperation of the people, the state government has taken various measures to tackle Covid-19. The state will be fully vaccinated in the next four months, he added. Regarding steps taken to provide relief to people in the tourism and transport sectors affected by Covid, he said that the state government is providing a package of about Rs 200 crore which will benefit about 1.64 lakh people. A package of Rs 205 crore is being given for encouragement to health workers and enhancing health services. The government is also committed to doubling the income of farmers with various measures including boosting the cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants. The approximately 650 food processing plants in the state are also being increased in number. The Centre is fully supporting Uttarakhand in execution of various major infrastructural and development projects. Dhami also requested the people to take a resolve on this Independence Day to contribute fully to nation building and serving the nation. The government is working with the aim of ensuing the benefit of development to the last person, he added.
