Guv expresses grief, seeks updates on rescue & relief work

Governor Baby Rani Maurya has expressed grief at the disaster in Chamoli district. While expressing empathy for the bereaved family members, the governor also praised the agencies involved in rescue and relief operations. She appreciated the manner in which the personnel saved the lives of people in difficult circumstances.

Earlier, on receiving information about rapid rise in water level in the river following the disaster in Chamoli, the governor talked to the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and sought information about the situation. The governor remained in constant touch with senior officials to ascertain the status of the situation. She was also seeking regular updates about the rescue and relief operations.

Maurya said that the district administration, police, disaster management department, ITBP, NDRF and SDRF were undertaking rescue and relief works. People in the affected area should maintain patience and not believe in rumours, she said. The governor further appealed to the people to follow the guidelines issued by the government.
