Guv issues directions on various aspects in Chamoli district

Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh held a meeting with officials of Chamoli district and issued directions on various aspects during his visit to the district. The governor arrived at Gopeshwar on Monday morning and held a meeting with district level officials at the PWD guest house.
He spoke of improving the communication facility and road connectivity to Auli, adding that efforts should be made to make it one of the top destinations in the world. The Auli road should be transferred to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), he said. The governor also spoke of increasing the production of Badri Ghee, improving its marketing and transport, and enhancing its reach at the national level. He directed that cluster centres should be opened on the Yatra routes to enable enhancement of livelihood for the locals. He further directed that five icons each should be chosen in different areas- persons who are doing something special in their respective fields. Suggesting the construction of a tunnel to link Badrinath and Kedarnath, the governor also said that maximum number of selfie points should be developed. He also stressed on the need for widespread of publicity of homestays. Good slogans should be displayed on hoardings along the Yatra routes, he added. Efforts should be made to facilitate as much sale of products made by self help groups as possible so that the locals also benefit more from the pilgrimage, the governor said.
Singh also appreciated the innovative works done by the Chamoli district administration. He said that e-library and laboratories have been made, which will considerably help students preparing for various examinations.
