To facilitate physical and mental development of children, the Government Ayurvedic Hospital based in Chamba has started a campaign to connect children with Swarna Prashana Sanskar. In the first phase of the campaign, 36 children of a private school have been given medicines for one month.
The organisers of the campaign said that when a child is born the family celebrates by adopting Swarna Prashana Sanskar in Pushya Nakshatra for better health of the child. “People would believe that this ritual helps the child develop enough immunity to fight off germs causing diseases. But things are changing with the people now giving scant regard to such age-old traditions.
In such a situation, the Government Ayurvedic Hospital here has taken the initiative to keep children healthy through Swarna Prashana. We have chosen 36 children from a private school for the Swarna Prashana ceremony in the first phase. Besides, we have given them medicines for one month,” said senior medical officer Dr Visha Bhushan.
