Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with enthusiasm and religious fervour by the people in various localities and temples across the State on Saturday. Devotees in Dehradun thronged the temples from early morning, paying their respects at Lord Hanuman’s temples. Many of them also distributed Prasad outside the temples.

A priest Hari Dimri said that the arrival of devotees began early in the morning as they came to offer prayers to Lord Hanuman. To make the celebration more memorable and auspicious, the temple committee organised a Sunderkand Path within the temple premises. After the Sunderkand Path, they also distributed laddu Prasad among the devotees.

Similar celebrations were observed in many other temples, where Lord Hanuman’s idols were adorned with flower garlands and various decorations. A devotee Indu said that she visited a temple near her home early in the morning to offer prayers and Prasad to Lord Hanuman. She also recited the Hanuman Chalisa and distributed food and Ladu Prasad to underprivileged people on this occasion.

“I visited the temple wearing saffron-coloured clothes and offered prayers to Lord Hanuman. Additionally, in the evening, I organised a Sunderkand Path at my residence to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti,” said another local resident Prakash Bisht.
