Harassment of RaGa: U’khand Congress holds Satyagraha

The leaders and workers of Uttarakhand Congress organised an impressive Satyagraha here on Wednesday to express their opposition for what they termed harassment of their leader Rahul Gandhi by the BJP government. The Satyagraha was held in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Park.  Braving the spells of the torrential rains, the Congress leaders condemned the government for conspiring against Rahul Gandhi which caused his disqualification from the membership of Lok Sabha.  Interestingly the faction ridden party appeared united to express its solidarity with Rahul Gandhi with the top leaders attending the Satyagraha. The leaders and workers wore bands around their mouths to observe silent protest. 

Addressing the media before the Satyagraha, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that Rahul Gandhi always talks about love, non violence and need to keep the country united but he is being targeted. He said that the Congress workers would fight against this harassment and would go among the people. Mahara said that efforts are being made by the government to blunt the efforts of Rahul Gandhi who is continuously exposing the government. He claimed that the disqualification decision of Gandhi is part of a well planned conspiracy.

 The co in charge of the State Congress Deepika Pandey said that the silent Satyagraha in all parts of the country. She said that the Congress leaders and workers held protest in front of statues of Mahatma Gandhi  in every State on the day. The leader of opposition in the State assembly Yashpal Arya said that the BJP is responsible for disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from parliament.

 The former PCC president Pritam Singh said that Rahul Gandhi has become the voice of the people of the country. He said that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi gave message of increasing unemployment and corruption but the government is paying no attention on this.  

The former Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta, deputy leader of Congress legislature party Bhuwan Kapdi, MLAs Gopal Singh Rana, Furkan Ahmed, Harish Dhami, Adesh Chauhan, Anupma Rawat, Vikram Singh, Ravi Bahadur, Virendra Jati, Rajendra Bhandari and Mamta Rakesh, former minister Hira Singh Bisht, Navprabhat, Vijay Pal Sajwan, vice president Mathura Dutt Joshi, Surya Kant Dhasmana, P K Agarwal, Garima Dasauni, leaders of frontal organisations and different cells of State Congress were present on the occasion.
