Harela, a festival of service & worship of nature: CM Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that in Sanatan culture there is a tradition of worshiping the nature as mother and the festival of Harela is also a festival of service of nature. He said that it is necessary to conserve nature and our heritage.
The CM participated in a plantation drive held to celebrate Harela festival at Guru Ram Rai Inter College, Mothrawala here in Saturday. He said that plants are integral part of our life and we engage in plantation of saplings for environmental conservation and ecological balance.
Dhami said that plantation is necessary to provide clean environment for the coming generations. The menace of deforestation and water pollution are affecting our lives and plantation is the only solution for these problems, he said. The CM said that keeping environmental conservation in mind, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made an appeal to the people to plant a tree in the memory of mother.
The CM said that the State is moving forward by striking a balance between ecology and environment. He said that works of all weather road, highway, railway and expressway are underway in the State. Focus on ease of living is being done in the smart city project.
The CM said that the number of visitors in Dehradun is expected to increase with completion of Dehradun- Delhi elevated road project. The road broadening works in different areas of Dehradun are underway. He said that work on 15 MLD capacity sewerage treatment plant (STP) is underway in Mothorowala in Dehradun.
The CM claimed that Uttarakhand is moving on the path of development under the guidance of PM Modi and the State is at the first place in the country in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). He said that the State government is assessing the carrying capacity of the cities located in the mountainous areas and based on it these cities will be developed.
Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Harela is celebrated as a social festival in the State. He said that the society has accepted this festival. Rawat said that we should do plantation for our coming generations.
Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli, former Mayor of Dehradun Sunil Uniyal Gama, Dinesh Agarwal and others were present on the occasion.
