Haridwar police arrest man for robbery of goods worth Rs 1.3 crore

The Haridwar police have arrested 44 wanted criminals in the past 20 days. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Haridwar, Ajai Singh said that the district police have been taking consistent actions to nab wanted criminals absconding from the districts who also had bounty on their heads. The police also arrested an accused Randhir, a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday from Bahadrabad toll plaza, Haridwar for his alleged involvement in robbery of goods worth Rs 1.3 crore last year.

The police had also announced a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head. Singh said that complainant Manesh Kumar filed a written complaint in Bahadarabad police station on October 23, 2021 against unknown men who looted his truck carrying goods worth Rs 1.3 crore after taking his driver as hostage. The police started the investigation and five days later, arrested two gang members named Sunil and Shailendra Chaudhary involved in the robbery.

The SSP said that the arrested accused revealed in the inquiry that there were a total five men who robbed the truck and the names of their other three accomplices were Sonu, Devendra and Randhir. After raiding all possible places where the robbers could hide, the police finally nabbed one of the accused Randhir on Tuesday from Bahadrabad toll plaza, said Singh. He said that the police will soon nab the remaining absconding wanted criminals.
