Haridwar police seize 1.14 lakh prescription drug tablets

Haridwar police on Thursday arrested two men who were in possession of 1.14 lakh prescription drug tablets which were allegedly meant to be supplied to medical stores in the district. The police have started identifying such medical stores that are connected to such drug smuggling groups to take action against them, said the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh.

He said that both accused Istkaar and Vineet were allegedly bringing the drugs from Uttar Pradesh in their respective scooty and motorbike. The police seized 1.14 lakh tablets of the prescription drug and the two-wheelers of the accused. He said that the duo have claimed to have brought such drugs from Muzaffarnagar to supply to the local medical stores in the past too which is also being investigated by the police. “Many medical stores are expected to be investigated during our investigation and we will act accordingly.

We are taking all possible actions to prevent the supply and usage of controlled drugs in Haridwar as part of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision of making Uttarakhand drug-free by 2025,” added Singh.
