Haridwar police on Tuesday issued a warning against those who are sharing misleading posts on social media about some Kanwadiyas reportedly thrashing a car belonging to people of a minority community. A video clip surfaced on social media on Tuesday in which some people, reportedly Kanwadiyas, can purportedly be seen thrashing a car while a couple is reportedly sitting inside the car.
Many have shared the clip claiming that the couple belongs to a minority community and the police took no action against the culprits. Responding to such claims, the senior superintendent of police of Haridwar Ajai Singh said that people are sharing and commenting on such misleading posts without any proper information about the incident. He said that this incident happened in the Manglaur area of Haridwar on Monday wherein some men thrashed a car.
The car driver Pratap Singh, who is a local resident filed a complaint against the culprits. The police have registered a complaint and have arrested two accused in the case. The police are working to identify other miscreants involved in the incident, said Singh. He said that this incident is being publicised as some dispute between two communities which is wrong. He said that a couple belonging to a minority community was not present in the car and it has no such angle as being portrayed on social media platforms. Misleading facts are being propagated without knowing the reality by “anti-social elements” in an attempt to disturb the harmony of society, stated Singh.
He appealed to people to refrain from sharing such information and added that the police will take strict legal action against those propagating such misleading information.
