The Haridwar police are yet to identify the three men who fatally shot businessman Joginder Singh (40) late on Wednesday. The police are analysing CCTV camera videos and questioning locals to get clues about the culprits, said a police officer from the district’s Gangnahar police station involved in the investigation team. He said that so far the police have gathered information that all accused who appeared to be in their 20s jumped the boundary wall of the victim’s building and fired at him five times from close range.
There were visible bullet injuries on his back, chest and neck, as per the official. He said that the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal has formed multiple teams to investigate different aspects of the case. The police still have no clue about the culprits and their motive behind killing Joginder, as stated by the official. “At present, we do not know for sure whether the victim was killed because of professional or personal reasons. We are questioning his friends and relatives regarding the same.
Since the culprits were wearing masks while committing the crime, their faces are not visible in any of the CCTV camera footage analysed so far. Different teams are investigating various aspects of the case to get clues about the accused,” the official said. He also informed that the police are yet to get the post mortem report of the victim which might disclose other crucial points in the case.
Joginder, also the brother-in-law of a BJP councillor Geeta Chaudhary, was shot dead in the Roorkee’s Paniyala area under Gangnahar police station area late on Wednesday night by three men who then fled from the spot. The officials said that the reason for killing Joginder might be professional as he was a businessman but the police have so far not found any such concrete evidence that clarifies this point.
